Austria Aguntum

Strength is location and field station. This is a basic field school of the European, cultural historical tradition.

For people interested in classical archaeology, the site and the setting – including accomodations – looks great. My only concerns is with excavation techniques: The book in excavation methodology assigned in the syllabus is very dated. Program director should address and maybe update the readings.

Overall this program was an extremely interesting and exciting experience that will stay with me into my professional career. I would most definitely recommend this field school to others.

The field school in Aguntum is truly phenomenal. The staff is more than helpful and the hospitality is unmatched. The field work is long but not overwhelming, and the including lab work is necessary. Anything you wish to learn you can, if not because it’s part of the program, but because you asked.
